new deadline: November 1, 2010

You should apply! the show title is linked to the application.

Here are some answers to frequently asked questions regarding the application:

Jewelry (wearable objects) is accepted as long as it is displayed as sculpture when off the body (ie: on a stand or armature, wall-mounted, framed, etc)

Sculptures that are not wearable are accepted as long as there is some interaction with a human being that can be depicted in a photograph.

Yes, you should include an image of the piece as a sculpture and as worn or interacted with by a person.

Hello fellow artists… I’m curating/jurying a show that will take place next April/May at Traver Gallery in Seattle. You should apply!

Here are the details…

Traver Gallery in Seattle, Washington is now accepting applications to Dual, the private life of sculpture. The show will coincide with the 2011 SNAG (Society of North American Goldsmiths – the fine folks who put out Metalsmith Magazine) conference in Seattle.
Applications are now being accepted through CaFE.
Deadline for submissions: October 17th
For complete details go to:

https://www.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=599&sortby=fair_name&apply=yes

Dual is a survey of artists creating sculptures that both stand alone as beautiful objects and also interact with the body in some way.

Art jewelry has long been pushing the boundaries of body adornment through wearable sculpture and in some cases objects that are made for the body but not realistically wearable. As sculpture takes a prominent role in art jewelry and the primary focus shifts from body adornment to conceptual objects that may or may not directly relate to the body, the result is often art with a double life. Dual seeks to highlight individual works that exist successfully in both realms – as sculpture and as an object that relates to the body or can interact with the body.
This theme is open to interpretation. Submissions for this exhibit are not limited to jewelry or small scale objects but open to any sculpture that lives a dual life.

This exhibit will take place in conjunction with the 2011 SNAG (Society of North America Goldsmiths) conference held in Seattle, Washington May 26-29, 2011.

Juried by Catherine Grisez

Eligibility:
• Open internationally to all artists 18 and older working in any media.

Submission requirements:
• All application materials must be submitted electronically through CaFE™ at https://www.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=599&sortby=fair_name&apply=yes. Technical support is available until 5:00 pm the day of the deadline via email at cafe@westaf.org
• There is a non-refundable $35 application fee.
• Artists must submit a minimum of 2 works and maximum of 4.
• All submitted works must have at least two images per piece – one of sculpture and one of the alternate purpose/display. (ie: 4-8 images of 2-4 works)
• Drawings of unfinished or works in process are accepted as long as you show at least two finished works.
• All works must be accompanied by title, medium, size, date, and sale price.
• Instructions on how to format images to CaFE™ specification can be found online at Image Prep https://www.callforentry.org/image_prep.phtml
• All decisions of the curator/juror are final.
• All work must be original. By completing this application artist agrees that he/she is responsible for the creation of submitted works.
• Applications must be received by midnight (11:59:59 pm) pacific time, October 17, 2010.
• By submitting images for jurying, artists grant The Traver Gallery and SNAG the right to use their images for the purpose of marketing the exhibition, and subsequent display on the website and e-newsletters. Artists grant the use of their image(s) as stated without further contact or compensation from the Traver Gallery or SNAG.

Exhibition calendar:
• Submission deadline: October 17, 2010
• Notification: October 26, 2010
• Work due at gallery: March 28, 2011
• Exhibit: April 7-May 29,2011
• Opening reception: April 7, 2011
• SNAG reception: May 27, 2011
