Hello fellow artists… I’m curating/jurying a show that will take place next April/May at Traver Gallery in Seattle. You should apply!
Here are the details…
Traver Gallery in Seattle, Washington is now accepting applications to Dual, the private life of sculpture. The show will coincide with the 2011 SNAG (Society of North American Goldsmiths – the fine folks who put out Metalsmith Magazine) conference in Seattle.
Applications are now being accepted through CaFE.
Deadline for submissions: October 17th
For complete details go to:
https://www.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=599&sortby=fair_name&apply=yes
Dual is a survey of artists creating sculptures that both stand alone as beautiful objects and also interact with the body in some way.
Art jewelry has long been pushing the boundaries of body adornment through wearable sculpture and in some cases objects that are made for the body but not realistically wearable. As sculpture takes a prominent role in art jewelry and the primary focus shifts from body adornment to conceptual objects that may or may not directly relate to the body, the result is often art with a double life. Dual seeks to highlight individual works that exist successfully in both realms – as sculpture and as an object that relates to the body or can interact with the body.
This theme is open to interpretation. Submissions for this exhibit are not limited to jewelry or small scale objects but open to any sculpture that lives a dual life.
This exhibit will take place in conjunction with the 2011 SNAG (Society of North America Goldsmiths) conference held in Seattle, Washington May 26-29, 2011.
