My sketchbook in 3-D. I make these small bowls from copper and glass to test out various color combinations and sketch ideas that might later be used in larger sculptural works.
Each piece is hammered from sheet copper, then fused with powdered glass in a 1500 degree kiln. After melting on a base layer, I draw and paint directly on the bowls with graphite or special enamel pencils and paints and fuse additional clear layers overtop, embedding the one of kind drawings between layers of glass.
