Gratitude Giveaway - Thank you for your support!

2 min read 17 Comments

I've tried to incorporate a gratitude practice into my nightly bedtime ritual for years.

To be honest, it's hit or miss if I remember to do it.

I have huge gratitude for so many people it's hard to count, for the grandiose nature I'm lucky to be surrounded by, and my steadily constant art practice. Plus so much more, like food and shelter and running water, that are easy to take for granted.

And since I don't always remember to express how thankful I am on a daily basis, I love this time of year for its active emphasis on gratitude.

So...

Thank you!

Catherine Grisez, metalsmith and artist in art studio with enamelware bowls and holloware tools

Thank you for all the support and encouragement. Not just through purchasing my art, but also the comments, likes, and shares here on my website and social media.

Each time you do one of those things, it strengthens my resolve to keep at it.

Choosing an art career path is HARD. There are mental, physical, and financial barriers lurking around every corner.

But knowing my work helps you in even a small way - perhaps gives you a little burst of joy or momentary break from the routine of your day through curiosity or beauty - emboldens my sense of commitment to this path.

Thank you for being you!

And since actions speak louder than words...

I want to give you a token of gratitude!

I’m grateful for the perspective to know that I’m an insignificant speck in relation to the universe – it’s freeing!

I’m grateful for so many things like a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, food on our tables
and the beautiful outdoors that we get to enjoy every day.
I’m most grateful for my family and friends.
I’m so very grateful for the friends who have become family.
I am also very grateful for getting to know you and your beautiful family.

So much to be grateful for! I’m grateful for my creativity, it’s role in providing healing, resourcefulness and a how it’s expression enlivens my spirit. For how the beauty I witness in nature, in others and in the world feeds me. For my growing creative practice and having my work back out in the world again. For my family friends and the community I’m connected to. I’m grateful to you Catherine for the beauty you put out in the world, the example you share and for the pieces I have of yours that I bought at a tender time in my life. I’m also grateful for finding soothing, healing and empowerment through mending and working with soft fiber.

I’m blessed with a roof, job, family and friends. It’s the quality not the quantity of things.

Right this minute I am grateful for the extreme pleasure, and honor, of having been a distant witness to the process and progress of your artistic dreams. From your wondering aloud, all those years ago, about the wild fantasy of your own studio, to the wonderful manifestation we all get to enjoy today.
I’m grateful to know a woman who did not, would not settle for just the mechanics and business of being an artist, but who has unselfishly turned her journey into a mission to inspire and lift up others. Owning a piece of your beautiful work, knowing the story behind it, is truly a blessing.

I’m grateful for a body that heals itself each night while I sleep. Repairing cells, releasing proteins, sorting information from the day, restoring energy and making it possible to live anew all over again the next day.

So glad to hear your open studio event was a hit. Love the video (and powerful and fitting song). Well done.

So many things to be grateful for! Number one is of course my healthy and beautiful children, but also with todays rising costs of everything I am thankful I have a roof over my head, a job where I can share my passion, and that I can still afford to run my studio and make art!! Making my work is a huge part of maintaining my mental health and I am not sure what I would do without it!

Creating interactive, collaborative art reminds me that one of the most empowering aspects of art is in its ability to bring people together. These are examples of projects that do just that.
