Hollow formed and fabricated music box using ancient metalsmithing techniques, including chasing and repousse and raising. Turn the key between the teeth to wind the mechanism. Music plays when opened, silent when box is closed.
Inspired by time I spent in North Africa, this piece embodies many emotions. It references a dream I had during a time when life felt out of control and fear had taken over. A short time later I found myself back in the states where I worked through those demons (with the help of a great therapist!) and through the making of this piece. It represents the ability to work through trauma and come out a stronger person on the other side.
